ABSTRACT
O gel obtido a partir do extrato etanólico bruto da casca deAnacardium occidentale L. possui propriedadesantiinflamatórias e antimicrobianas. Objetivo: O objetivo desseestudo foi avaliar a toxicologia clínica deste fitoterápico emvoluntários saudáveis. Metodologia: Realizou-se um ensaioclínico não aleatório, aberto, com 40 voluntários sadios (22mulheres e 18 homens), que aplicaram o gel na face uma vezao dia, durante 3 semanas. Os voluntários foram incluídosno estudo somente após serem considerados saudáveisdepois da avaliação clínica e laboratorial que antecederam oestudo. A avaliação laboratorial consistiu de análisehematológica, bioquímica e sorológica. A avaliação clínica elaboratorial foi repetida após a primeira semana e no final dotratamento, na terceira semana do estudo. Resultado: Aaplicação do gel deste fitoterápico foi bem tolerada pelos 40voluntários sadios e não apresentou eventos adversos.Conclusão: os exames clínicos e laboratoriais realizadosantes, durante e após o ensaio não evidenciaram sinais detoxidade na pele e nem nos diversos órgãos e sistemasavaliados, demonstrando a segurança do produto e cujosresultados propiciam a realização de ensaios de eficáciaterapêutica...
The gel extracted from the bark Anacardium occidentale L.is indicated for topical treatment of inflammatory diseases.Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate theclinical toxicology of this formulation in healthy volunteers.Material and methods: For this, a non-randomized openclinical trial was conducted with 40 healthy volunteers (22female and 18 male), who administered the topical gel in theirfaces during 3 weeks. The volunteers were included in thestudy only when considered healthy after clinicalassessment, physical examination and laboratory tests whichpreceded the study. The laboratory tests included:hematological, biochemical and serological analysis. Theclinical and laboratory evaluation were repeated after thefirst week and at the end of the third week after the lastadministration. Results: This gel was well tolerated by the40 volunteers, and it has showed no adverse events.Conclusion: The clinical and laboratory data assessed before,during and after the test showed no signals of toxicity invarious organs and systems evaluated, confirming the safetyof the preparation for use in trials of therapeutic efficacy...
